The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is one of the few orders of knighthood under the direct protection of the Holy See. Its members commit to a deepened spiritual life and to the material support of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land.
The Toronto Lieutenancy gathers Catholics from across Ontario who answer this call — not as a title of honour, but as a vocation of charity, prayer, and witness.
In the wake of the First Crusade, canons are established to guard the Holy Sepulchre — the seed of the Order.
Pope Alexander VI assumes the office of Grand Master, placing the Order under the direct care of the Holy See.
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem is re-established; the Order is renewed to sustain its mission.
Pope Leo XIII extends membership to the laity — men and women — broadening the Order's witness.
Knights and dames across Ontario continue the ancient vocation in service of the Mother Church of Jerusalem.

The Order is the principal financial support of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Through its lieutenancies worldwide, it sustains parishes, schools, seminaries, and humanitarian works across Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Cyprus.
Every gift entrusted to the Toronto Lieutenancy is directed, in full, to this sacred purpose.
